Pulmonary Fibrosis

Supporting breathing and quality of life as lung tissue scars.

Care for pulmonary fibrosis at Bangkok Stem Cell Center

What is Pulmonary Fibrosis?

Pulmonary fibrosis usually announces itself slowly — a dry cough that won't quit, breathlessness on exertion that gets a little worse over months rather than days. It's a serious, progressive condition, and people living with it often describe a strange grief for the lung capacity they used to take for granted. Every case progresses differently, which makes it hard to predict and harder to plan around.

How regenerative medicine supports it

This work happens strictly alongside your pulmonologist, using your existing high-resolution CT staging and spirometry trends to guide anything we consider. We focus on reducing ongoing inflammation and supporting oxygenation and general resilience, tracked through walk tests and oxygen saturation. We need to be completely honest here: established fibrotic scarring does not reverse with current science, including with us, and anti-fibrotic medication prescribed by your specialist remains central to slowing progression.

If the evidence for treating pulmonary fibrosis this way is thin, we will tell you before you book — and the review is not billed.

Pulmonary Fibrosis — Questions Patients Ask

Can stem cell therapy actually reverse the scarring in my lungs?

No, and we won't tell you otherwise — once lung tissue has scarred, that change is permanent with any treatment currently available. What we focus on is supporting healthier surrounding tissue and your overall function within that reality.

I've heard other clinics claim they can cure pulmonary fibrosis — is that true?

We'd be very cautious of any such claim; it isn't supported by current evidence, and we think it's important to say so plainly rather than let hope be exploited.

Should I stop my anti-fibrotic medication if I try this?

No — anti-fibrotic drugs like pirfenidone or nintedanib are the main evidence-based way to slow progression, and stopping them would be genuinely risky. Anything we offer sits alongside that, never instead of it.

What realistic difference might I notice?

Some patients report modestly better energy or exertion tolerance, which we track through walk distance and oxygen saturation, but we set expectations carefully and honestly from the start.

How do you decide if someone is even a suitable candidate?

We need recent HRCT imaging and pulmonology input on disease stage first, since more advanced fibrosis changes what's safe and realistic to offer, and some patients aren't suitable candidates at all.
