What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

How it works
The sequence, from first records to follow-up
- 01
History and exclusion check
Recent bowel surgery, active inflammatory bowel disease, severe haemorrhoids and pregnancy all exclude treatment. We ask before booking.
- 02
Preparation guidance
You are given simple dietary guidance for the day or two beforehand — lighter food, more fluid — which makes the session more comfortable.
- 03
Session
Warm filtered water is introduced and released in gentle cycles using a closed system, supervised throughout by a trained therapist. Around forty-five minutes.
- 04
Follow-up guidance
Afterwards you receive practical guidance on fibre, fluid and, where relevant, probiotic support.
What to expect
Before

Avoid a heavy meal within two hours. Wear something comfortable; you will be given privacy to change and a gown.
During

Waves of mild fullness and cramping that pass within seconds. The system is closed, so there is no odour, and you are covered throughout.
After

Most people feel lighter and slightly tired. Bowel habit takes a day or two to settle back to normal.

Colon Hydrotherapy — Questions Patients Ask
Does this remove toxins from my body?
No, and we do not describe it that way. Your liver and kidneys handle detoxification. This is a comfort and bowel-function procedure, which is a smaller and more honest claim.
Will it damage my gut bacteria?
A single session has a modest and temporary effect. Frequent repeated sessions are a different matter, which is why we discourage anything more often than occasional use.

Is it painful?
Uncomfortable in short waves rather than painful. Patients who find it genuinely painful are usually tense, and the therapist will slow the pace.
Who should not have it?
Anyone with active inflammatory bowel disease, recent bowel surgery, diverticulitis, severe haemorrhoids, or who is pregnant.
How often is reasonable?
Occasionally, and not as a routine. We would rather address diet, fibre and fluid intake than schedule someone monthly.
